	I consider myself a creative generalist—I like solving problems and telling stories using a variety of forms and media. I’ve partnered with many different organizations over the years, and my creative experience includes visual, functional, and environmental design.
Sometimes my work looks like a temporary installation, and sometimes it’s a sculpture. It often involves interaction through technology or community engagement (sometimes both!) It’s always in and for the public.

		<description>
	My work investigates the way people inhabit the landscape and the many systems that support modern ways of life. Whether interrogating land use, energy production, or the postal service, I am intrigued by the social and physical infrastructures of human civilization. My creative practice, based in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, and public art, translates these themes into artful experiences that inspire curiosity and introspection.
I position my work as neither temporary nor permanent, but as operating within overlapping social, cultural, and natural ecosystems that are dynamic and transformational. I endeavor to create with increasing responsibility and responsiveness to our changing world, and embrace a process that deepens the human-environment relationship through materiality, form, and experience.

&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;Research
	As a researcher at the Minnesota Design Center, I lead communities and institutions in creative problem-solving processes that start with human needs, and result in testable prototypes.
In collaboration with project partners, I design tools for increasing empathy in services and systems while promoting cultures of innovation.

	Past projects range from increasing agency for the developmentally disabled to better connecting tenants to housing support for Hennepin County. Most recently I helped establish an innovation program at a state agency, and am working with rural Minnesota towns to embed human-centered design principles in their community-driven efforts.

Co-Lead Artist

Office Park was a public art installation and initiative that asks people to dream about our shared futures through curiosity, play, and planning.&#38;nbsp; A temporary outdoor office environment provided public work space, inclusive community, and productive conversation at Osborn370 in downtown St Paul. A sculptural table reimagined the traditional boardroom into a shape promoting egalitarian power dynamics, with a planted center holding St Paul’s youngest forest. The table asks you to spend time with this future forest while reimagining what downtown and society can be as they evolve to fit the post-pandemic world.

Rumblings is an interactive light display that encourages a relationship between viewers and the utility that keeps the city warm. By making a phone call, the public can hear one of six commissioned poems inspired by the plant. The audio recording triggers a light show, making the steam plume appear to speak the words and creating a simultaneously intimate and collective experience.A co-generation energy utility, internationally known for its environmental practices, was often assumed to be a source of pollution due to its prominent steam plume. District Energy Saint Paul, a UNESCO-recognized plant fueled primarily by waste wood, worked with a small group of artists to imagine light-based installations that celebrated its important work and prominent presence in the skyline.

&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;Hello, River&#38;nbsp;(2023)

	&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; West Des Moines, Iowa&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;
Co-Lead Artist

Hello, River is an interactive installation that will draw visitors to the river’s edge, and encourage a deeper relationship with their natural environment. The sculpture’s shape and finish are inspired by the freshwater mussels of a healthy river ecology, and a push-button ‘intercom’ allows people to experience recorded underwater sounds. Simple meters display real-time USGS flow rate and water height as indicators of safety.
In addition to the listening station, River Lore plaques will be installed in order to tell stories specific to the site and its many communities. Over time, different opportunities to listen and learn from the river will grow across the waterway system to create a ‘artshed,’ marked by the same finish.&#38;nbsp;

&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;Way Station Warming House (2018)

	&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; Bloomington, Minnesota&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; Co-Lead Artist

Way Station Warming House was a temporary cafe and transit shelter at a light rail station, giving visitors to the Minnesota winter a place to warm themselves and enjoy the diverse culture and rich hospitality of our state. For three nights, our team and partners transformed a standard construction trailer into a cafe that serves free hot tea in the tradition of Somali Community. Teahouse guests, whether festival-goers or light rail passengers, enter to find a rich and warm environment for meeting fellow travelers and Minnesota residents.

&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;Green Market Movers (2017)

Co-Lead Artist
It takes a lot of optimism to grow plants when the world’s fate is uncertain.&#38;nbsp;

The&#38;nbsp;Green Market Movers come from a future where nature is a commodity, and they are unloading seeds to help heal the earth. Using vegetation, video, interactive technologies, and performance, they recreate an idealized version of nature in the back of a box truck to satisfy the human desire for “green”. By calling the number listed, participants can connect with a “dealer” who provides them seeds to propagate the future condition they desire.&#60;img width="2100" height="1400" width_o="2100" height_o="1400" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/bb674863965276f648da1bfd68a0c5e305f6294c105881fbb4d1ae9dcc5360c9/GMM_PeopleView_med.png" data-mid="158038987" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/bb674863965276f648da1bfd68a0c5e305f6294c105881fbb4d1ae9dcc5360c9/GMM_PeopleView_med.png" /&#62;
